Worldwide English is a Lexington Youth Charity Club that connects new immigrant students from different cultural backgrounds through learning English. Our overall goal is to give new immigrant students more opportunities to make friends and adapt the new environment more quickly. The most important thing is let them know they are not alone. We have the same experience from different cultural backgrounds, which has created our diversity in Lexington and the United States! We will offer activities in the ELL (ESL) classes in elementary and middle schools in Lexington. Through our monthly gatherings between different schools (the timetable should be determined later and may be changed), teachers will bring activities to give students the opportunity to share their culture and stories. All our teachers are mainly from Lexington High School.

We are FAMILY! Students could understand they are not alone as newcomers, as many of us may share similar experiences.

About history

Worldwide English first started in April 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. Since then, we have been teaching remotely, allowing students from China (ages between 6-14) to practice their English and learn from our organization during our teacher’s free time.  Our original goal is to create an opportunity for kids all over the world to learn about different cultures (specifically American and Chinese) through a global language such as English. Teachers would also have the opportunity to learn about the customs of a certain region and vice versa. After more than a year of development, Worldwide English intends to seek out newcomers who first joined their community in the US. Most teachers now have more than a year of teaching experience and are greatly trained to help students to improve their English and make connections with their community!

Our Mission

Through Worldwide English, we would like to create an environment for students with  different cultural backgrounds and languages to feel safe and accepted. Our mission is to have communities of immigrants connect with each other, feel comfortable and welcomed in an unfamiliar country. We hope that students could understand they are not alone as newcomers, as many of us may share similar experiences!
